If there’s one thing Ski Moms love, it’s planning ahead. Lately, I’ve noticed more and more questions about Christmas ski vacations popping up in the community. And while I can’t predict where the early snow will fall (my crystal ball is currently out of service), I can point you to a place that checks all the boxes for a magical, memory-making mountain holiday: the Stein Eriksen Lodge at Deer Valley.

Holiday Magic > Holiday Mayhem

Last year, after a hectic fall, I quietly opted out of the typical home-for-the-holidays pressure cooker. Instead of stressing over gift lists and picture-perfect decor (looking at you, Hallmark Channel), I gifted my family—and myself—a holiday at Stein Eriksen Lodge. Everyone wants to know where the best early season snow conditions will be, I take another approach. I ask: What’s the best place to be at over the holidays if the snow gods don’t deliver. We booked a two-bedroom suite in July (yes, that early) and spent the days leading up to Christmas in the cozy alpine elegance of this iconic Deer Valley resort.

I’ve been a fan of Deer Valley since the early days of my ski career, I’m not going to wax on about why I love the terrain so much (it has a lot to do with no snowboarders and expert grooming), I want to focus in on a particular type of fun to be had at Deer Valley–holiday fun.
